Senior Director, Antibody Discovery

Novasenta is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and science-oriented antibody engineering scientist to join the Novasenta’s experimental biology team. The candidate will work closely with the CEO and CSO to advance the scientific vision of the Company with the focus on establishing an innovative portfolio of antibody drug candidates targeting the tumor microenvironment. The person should be passionate about working in a small group, fast paced drug discovery/ development environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s efforts of generating antibodies to novel targets
  • Develop antibody discovery strategies and lead antibody discovery, maturation, optimization and humanization campaigns for multiple internal programs, including first-in-class targets
  • Coordinate and lead engagement with CROs and other outsourced providers involved in efforts related to antibody generation
  • Provide CMC and regulatory support with the goal of filing IND(s) within the next 18-24 months.
  • Provide leadership to a growing team of scientists/ drug developers
  • Provide adequate input in “go/no-go” decisions on programs based on rigorous scientific analysis
  • Work closely with individual functional groups to understand evolving project portfolio, identify knowledge gaps and prioritize resources needed for specific assets
  • Provide domain area expertise and work collaboratively across the organization to help build and mature a therapeutic pipeline for the company

Requirements:

  • The candidate must have a Ph.D. or M.D./ Ph.D with training in immunology, oncology and related disciplines.
  • Extensive experience in the development of biologics/ antibody therapeutics (required)
  • Prior experience with antibody therapeutics-based IND filings (required)
  • Has worked on antibody or related molecules that are in clinical trials (required) and/ or BLAs filed (highly desirable but not required)
  • Experience in antibody discovery technologies including but not limited to hybridoma, phage display and B-cell cloning (required)
  • Extensive experience in antibody screening, antibody characterization and developability assessment (required)
  • Experience managing team of scientists as well CROs and other outsourced providers as well as excellent skills in written and oral communication (required)
  • Is passionate about working in a small, interactive, fast growing, and entrepreneurial drug-discovery/ development environment
  • Title and compensation commensurate with experience
